About Us

Dentist

Fred Thompson

Dr. Fred H. Thompson, is a lifelong Tennessean. He moved to Chattanooga in 1981 and is proud call it home. 

At the early age of eleven, after having a bicycle wreck and breaking two front teeth and numerous childhood visits to his family dentist, he decided to become a dentist himself. With his future focused on Dentistry he graduated from UTMartin, and the UT Center for Health Sciences in Memphis where he received his Dental degree in 1981.

"I have always had a desire to help people. As a Dentist, being able to enhance someone's smile and confidence is extremely rewarding. I feel like my patients are extended family. I treat and diagnose each patient like I were treating my own family."

For over 15 years, Dr. Thompson has considered it a privilege to work with the Mountain View Family Dental staff. "Daily they use their professional expertise and talents to encourage and serve our patients. I have been blessed with a great team."

In order to treat his patients with the latest that Dentistry has to offer, he attends many courses and seminars annually. He is a member of the American Dental Association, Tennessee Dental Association and the Chattanooga Area Dental Society.

Dr. Fred Thompson has a vast collection of Indian artifacts that he has personally found and enjoys studying ancient North American civilizations. Although a chore, he finds peace in working in his yard and his numerous planting beds. He enjoys long weekends off and spending time with his wife Valerie and their two sons, Taylor and Madison.

Registered dental assistant

Dana Lasley

It has been our honor to have Dana join us as a vital member of our dental team. In 1981, Dana found her calling at Chattanooga State and graduated as a Nationally Certified and State Registered Dental Assistant . She is greatly experienced and qualified for her position. Dana is a natural talent with hands on procedures. She is a great help to Dr. Thompson which allows him more quality time with his patients.

She is devoted to her chosen career and she brings compassion and understanding to her patients while helping them to lower their dental anxiety. "I try to always put myself in the patients place and comfort, inform or do whatever I can to help them get through the procedure and become successful dental patients".

Dana enjoys her work as well as her play. Sharing her pool in the summer, going on her annual girls trip. She loves her family, and is always ready brag and share photos of her daughter and 2 grandchildren.  Dana has no lack of "best friends" she is a great friend to all and lives her life with a strong faith. She has suffered the loss her husband and a daughter, but she still smiles and has faith that they will meet again. Dana enjoys her many church friends and activities. And when you see her you can be sure that her jewelry will always match her outfit...     She's just that kind of gal.. and we love her!


Dental patient specialist

Debbie Kelly

Walk into our office and you will know Debbie. You can be sure she will give you a  personal greeting and a smile. Debbie enjoys assisting patients in understanding and scheduling their dental treatment and she is eager to help patients in explaining all things financial.

"I love comforting and reassuring fearful patients. I once was one. It's just natural to be nervous, but dentistry does not have to be painful. Once they give us a chance, their apprehensions usually fade. I feel blessed to meet and greet our patients daily. Over the years many have become cherished friends."

Growing up in Chattanooga and graduating from Central High School, Debbie seems to know people everywhere. She worked for a local insurance company and a few dental offices before joining Mountain View Family Dental. In 1998 she started working with Dr. Thompson, and now, over 25 years later, she still greets and cares for each patient as if they were her first. 

Her time outside of the office is busy. She enjoys her friends and is very active in her church and it's ministries. But her favorite past time is with husband Kevin, spending family time with their son and daughter, their grandchildren and her two precious great-granddaughters. 


Registered dental hygienist

Wendi Meagher

Although born in Maryland, Wendi considers herself a Tennessean and has always enjoyed the great outdoors. Her career as a Registered Dental Hygienist began in 1993. She first became interested in dentistry while working in her father's dental practice as an assistant to the dental hygienist and office manager. She first worked with Dr. Thompson in 1997. She enjoys her work as a hygienist, and she strives always to provide the best possible care for her patients. "I try to be an encouragement to my patients concerning their hygiene habits. Prevention plays such a roll in keeping our teeth as we age." Wendi treasures the many friendships' she has made with patients over the years and she looks forward to many more...

Outside of the office Wendi enjoys spending time with her husband and three sons and daughter-in-law. She is happily involved in her church and its many outreaches. One of her favorite family past times is spending time outside with their dogs and especially hiking.  


Registered Dental assistant

Jessica Goff

Jessica came to our office in 2018 while doing her dental assisting externship through the Chattanooga State Program. We immediately knew she was a keeper. While attending UTC and majoring in Pre-dentistry she was a part-time fill in for our office.  This year the opportunity opened and Mountain View Family Dental was able to hire her as a full time registered dental assistant. Jessica has always been an energetic soul, focused and attentive. She is a great dental team member and she truly desires to be of assistance to her patients. "I enjoy my work especially when I can help relive a patients dental stress... discussing their dental issues and getting to know them is an honor and seeing them take on the responsibility of their dental health is always a success."

Jessica is originally from Illinois calling Chattanooga her home since 2017. She hopes to one day attend dental school. She would be a great Dentist. She is the "go to Tech person" in the office as well as helping all of us with our various App's & Digital issues. She is a people person and enjoys vacationing and cruising with her friends or just hanging out.  She enjoys her family visits up north and  in her free time she enjoys shopping and spending time with her fur babies, 1 cat and her dog "Blue".


Dental Office Administrator

Valerie Thompson

A native of Miami Florida, Valerie has enjoyed calling Chattanooga her home since 1975.  In 1981 she applied for a position at a local dental practice. Little did she know that would change her life forever. Over 42 years later she is still happily working in dentistry. She enjoys continuing to serve both new patients and those from long ago. 

"Many of our patients today first started coming to Dr. Thompson when they were small children, they are now grandparents and their grandchildren come to us. Dr. Thompson's  gentle and painless manor has always been a  reason for our patients to feel good about referring their family and friends. Their trust and faith in us has always been an honor and responsibility."

Valerie's varied interests have included event planning, coordinating weddings, along with floral and interior design, She is a woman of faith and enjoys music. Back in 1981, in that local dental practice she met the man she would marry. She assisted, and helped him open his own practice in 1985. And in 1988 she and Dr. Frederick Thompson were married. And they continue to work together after 42 years. She has been a dental assistant, dental receptionist and dental office manager, but her favorite titles are Wife, Mother and Friend. Their two sons, Taylor and Madison just call her, Mom. 


Registered Dental Hygienist

Stephanie Young

Stephanie is a native of Chattanooga. Growing up on Signal Mtn. and graduating from Red Bank High School in 1980.  She has known many of our Patients and their families for years.

In 1983, she met a young man at First Presbyterian Church named John Young. They married and during the following years were blessed with 4 children. After having her children, Stephanie stepped up and started a whole new chapter in her life. She enrolled at Chattanooga State and graduated as a Registered Dental Hygienist in 2003. 

Stephanie always has a "pep in her step" her patients enjoy her welcoming and friendly spirit. With her experience and clinical skills we are privileged to have her on our Dental Team at Mountain View Family Dental. She looks forward to visiting with her patients and making sure they are set up for continued success with their dental health. 

She and hubby John now live in Flintstone, Ga.. They are a patriotic family as John has served 6 deployments within his 27 years. He is now a retired US Navy Builder Chief Petty Officer, (BUC). The Young's also  enjoy cruising, socializing and dancing with their VFW family.  Stephanie enjoys rescuing and growing Orchid plants , she loves watching British TV and retro game shows. She is a woman of faith and outside of the office she enjoys bible studies, girls night out and is always ready for a fun time. Over the years, her family has continued to grow. They now have 2 dogs, and 1 cat, and 4 cherished grandchildren
